I couldn’t be more addicted to dulse if I had spent the last twenty seven years at Dulse University doing a PhD in dulse addiction whilst simultaneously shooting up dulse inbetween lectures given by lecturers made of actual dulse.
I’m seriously concerned about my massive dulse obsession. I’m having just under a bag a day. But, at the same time, it’s very, very good because I have total and utter faith in my body that for some reason it NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDS dulse. There is clearly something in it (innit?) that my body requires for some reason and I have absolute trust that once it’s had it’s wicked dulse way my body will go back to a level of sensible dulse necessity. Hmm, it’s high in B6, B12 (? didn’t know that – maybe an analogue), iron, potassium, vit C, E and A, magnesium, calcium, iodine and protein. There are worse things to be addicted to I guess…
I think trusting our body’s intuition is key on a raw food diet. I would have a bit of a word with myself though if that obsession was deep-fried mars bars. Although I think the theory is the same, there’d be something that I was getting from the deep-fried mars bar either physically (errr!) or mentally or emotionally that was fulfilling a need and I’d bow down to that higher knowledge while simultaneously getting to the bottom of what that need was and how it could be filled another way IMMEDIATELY 🙂
So right now I’m happy with my dulsey ways.
Today Matthew I had a bloody gorgeous Green Smoothie – pineapple, kiwi, mint and spinach. Amazing. Then had some Siriusly Black chocolate made from Raw Magic for lunch (has lashings of spirulina and I added some suma too). Yes chocolate for lunch! It isn’t against the law when you eat it raw. Oh man that rhymes! I find my rhyming ability goes up ten-fold when I’ve had raw choc – must be all those neural pathways opening up to experience the yummy choc bliss chemicals 🙂 Check out this fabby article on why you should eat your choccie RAW baby!
I went all crazy sensible and had a highly nutritious Cucumber Soup from Evie’s Kitchen – Shazzies book. See? You can have the best of both worlds, all worlds by having chocolate for starter then soup for pudding at lunch time. It’s a crazy, crazy raw world innit? Ok I HAVE had too much choc. I sprinkled loads of seagreens and crystal manna on it.
Later I made a fabby salad with DULSE. It was just everything left in the fridge – salad, broccoli, celery, tomato, avo, cucumber with lashings of DULSE and added a fabby dressing given to me by my lovely friend Niamh which she got from Ani Phyo’s Raw Food Kitchen. It’s a cucumber and orange dressing but I didn’t have all the ingredients and ended up adapting it – cucumber, orange, red chilli, ginger, hemp seeds, olive oil, garlic, salt, lemon juice. Very tasty (thanks Niamh).
Er, I had ten times as much dulse in this meal but had to take it out the shot or otherwise it’d just be a big pile of dulse with some salad poking out 🙂
No exercise today cos I’m telling myself I’m far too busy with other things.
You’re gonna have to face it you’re addicted to DULSE. I will stop talking about dulse after today I promise…
