I Eat Dead People – smoothie recipe

By Emma Leave a Comment May 23 1

So I’m in Iceland, most of you will have gathered that already, and I’ve noticed whilst walking (A LOT) around the streets of Reykjavik that there are an abundance of dandelions.  I mean, literally bizillions of them!  There’s that thing (specific eh?) that says that certain wild foods will grow in abundance in the areas where they’re needed most.  Even in your own garden.  Where did I read that from?  Hang on…Ok after typing a few nondescript things in to Google I’m still none the wiser…Maybe it was Markus Rothkranz?  It really doesn’t matter anyway.

So yes, that means either a lot of people in Reykjavik need some serious support of the liver (check out my earlier blog about benefits of consuming wild foods like dandelions here) OR it’s me that does by the very fact that I’m seeing them everywhere! « Continue »

spring clean machine with a hempy dream

By Emma Leave a Comment Apr 5 2

Hello hello.  Just made this cheeky wee smoothie as part of my juice/smoothie feast this week.  Don’t forget about the facebook group here which you can join at any time to see what amazing liquidy treats everyone is er, liquidising…  I really fancied something a bit chocolatey after the major spring clean I’ve been doing all morning so I went for this sexy little number…

Chocolate Ra Ra Raspberry Hempy Dream

125g raspberries

1 LARGE tbsp of cacao nibs

1 tsp xylitol (or other sweetener of choice)

1-2 cups hemp milk (make your own or use Hemp Bliss which you can get at Grassroots)

Blend well until everything is thoroughly mixified.  Drink whilst watching Prince videos (NOT optional).

raspberry chocolate hemp milk

hemp blissssss u

I promise after I’ve finished this juice feast I’m going to post some more solidy type food stuff recipes.  The truth is I do tend to drink my food more than eat it but I’ve found a wee burst of inspiration for more mealy type meals now that I’m out a job and kicking about the kitchen with nothing in particular to do.  So yes, proper food stuff at some point…« Continue »

black & blue breakfast

By Emma Leave a Comment Mar 31 0

Just had to share this wicked breakfast beauty with you sexy beings.  It actually came to me this morning as a pudding idea but then my stupid avos were too ripe to use…avocadnoooooooooo!  So here is a sparkley sparkle breakfast smoothie instead, guaranteed to make you look and feel 15.23% younger by lunchtime.  True!

Before I made this I put the xylitol in the blender first on it’s own and blended for a few seconds to really break it down.  This worked really well although the inside of the blender looked like a bomb went off in a snow storm!

Black & Blue Breakfast

1 tbsp xylitol (blended first, or not, your choice. you could also use honey/agave etc.)

1 punnet blueberries

1/2 litre SPARKLING spring water – well, a girl’s got to sparkle in the morning right?

1 tsp vanilla powder

1 tsp purple corn powder (optional)

1 tsp blackcurrant powder (this isn’t optional, unless you just want blue breakfast of course)

Blendifyand enjoy

pain in the arse smoothie

By Emma Leave a Comment Mar 30 0

This smoothie was a total pain in the arse to make but as with most things in life, the things that are a total pain in the arse usually end up being worth it 🙂  It’s inspired in part by the amazing Lassis you can get at Vantra in London.  I was there at the weekend and enjoyed a Strawberry & Cacao Nut Mylk Lassi so here is my interpretation…« Continue »
