superSHEro

What do superSHEros have for breakfast?

It’s been full on superfood assault in my kitchen the last few days – my body is being drawn to them like those big magnets you get in cartoons that drag you across the room with a THUNK.

When I talk about superfoods I’m referring to magic potions and powders so nutrient and mineral dense they should have their own bank holiday named after them!  Things like cacao – ok defo top of my list – purple corn, suma, he shou wu, ALGAE (I love algae), seagreens, camu camu, chia, maca, hemp, flax, gojis etc. LOVELY STUFF!

So for breakfast today I was craving something mammoth on the superfood front. A kinda give-me-all-you-got sexy breakfast and let me tell you my body was singing and dancing for hours after this baby!  In fact it made me feel kinda like this…

I think all breakfasts should make you feel like that!  If they don’t, you gotta ask yourself why not? 🙂  You deserve to have your breakfast make you feel so good you want to sing and dance and jump around like a loony!

So yes breakfast today was based on a recipe called Porringe from Raw Magic – this book is quite literally my bible at the moment.

½ cup flaxseed – ground, 1 tablespoon of the following: chia seeds, honey, lucuma, bee pollen, gojis, buckwheaties, cacao nibs, maca crispies, hemp oil, cacao powder, 1 cup water – just boiled. Mix everything together except the water and maca crispies in a bowl. Slowly add the water giving it a good mix till you get the right consistency, I like it kinda watery gooey. Top with maca crispies and gojis!

shake yo ass breakfast

Ok so it looks like a big splodge of goo but believe me this breakfast will rock your socks and make you a full-on supershero or hero till way past lunchtime.

Mr Kellog needs to get his act together and get this magic in a box!

So what is the science behind how this rocks your socks?  Well I’m glad you asked…

Gojis – mega protein rich with 18 of 22 amino acids present, calcium, potassium, zinc, b vitamins and beta carotene (that stuff you get in carrots), antioxidants and essential fatty acids

Maca – b vitamins, 18 of 22 amino acids, calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, phosphorus, selenium and manganese (sounds like an ancient greek warrior to me) MANGANESE! Moving on…

Bee pollen – zinc, lecithin, natural antibiotic, regulates blood sugar

Hemp and Flax – ESSENTIAL fatty acids (note essential) omegas 3, 6 and 9 – not your times table but if you eat enough you’ll be able to do your times table backwards and in swahili! True.

Cacao – magnesium, sulphur, iron, phosphorus, b vitamins, antioxidants and just PURE JOY!

Chia – omega 3 & 6, stabilize blood sugar, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, fibre, iron, niacin, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, high in calcium

If this breakfast was in a fight with a bit of toast and jam it’d win hands down without even getting out of bed…but it’s never in bed cos it doesn’t sleep cos it doesn’t need to cos it’s so amazing!

Warning – this breakfast can make you write silly blog posts.

So yeah that was breakkie.  Then had wild green juice – 2 cucumbers, 1 head celery, 1/2 lemon, 2 handfuls dandelion and sorrel, 1/2 burdock root.

Made a nice soup and courgetti bolognaise – recipes to follow!

My herbs came today!  I got so many I can’t remember them off the top of my head but I’ll blog about them tomorrow…

Did a spot of rebounding too.  Here’s my rebouding song of the day
