I’m aff the sugar. Not just cos of the whole carrot cake debacle but because in general I find a lower sugar raw food diet works better for me. (Cue Durianrider type assault from every 801010er on the planet). I know high fruit works for tonnes of people (mostly athletes in hot climates) but for a Scottish (and temporary Icelandic) lass like myself it just disnae work. I have tried it a few times. Disaster.
Anyhow. Here’s a sparkling low sugar green smoothie recipe that’s been saving me the last few days.
Enjoy!
Makes 1 glass – using my travel blender. It’s toaty!
Aff the Sugar Green Smoothie
1/4 lemon
1 small piece of ginger
1/4 cucumber
1 stick celery
1 full sprig mint leaves (about 6)
handful mixed greens
small handful parsley
1 tsp chlorella (opt)
2 tsp green powder from your Icelandic flatmate who doesn’t like it (opt)
1 tsp xylitol (never used this in a green smoothie before – works well. use whatever sweetener you want)
Add water or some coconut water (I used a smidge of Dr Martin’s Coco Water)
Blend
Enjoy in Reykjavik if you happen to be here. Enjoy wherever you are!
Currently holding the world record for most amount of salads eaten in Reykjavik in one week. True. Day 4 without sugar or carrot cake. Back on the Om bars though…. 🙂
80 10 10er here and no assault ;), live and let live I say. No need to think every 80 10 10er comes with the durianrider attitude 🙂
Haha! Awesome Chloe! You’re so right, please accept my apologies. Not every 811er is a Durianrider in disguise! xx
