soooooo good green juice

By Emma Aug 30 5

I’m being so good I could snog my own face off.  I did say I’d be super good and get back in to my greeeeens after erring on the side of raw cake and ice cream and chocolate a bit too much and I’m a man of my word…most of the time…  Actually I’m thinking about going to Grassroots today to see what raw cake they’ve got in… ANYWAY, I’ve had two pints of greeeeen juice I can have cake if I bloody want 🙂

Got back from Barcelona at the weekend.  Lovely, lovely city and I had a great time.  However, I did feel the need for super detox when I got home.  It’s a busy, polluted city and that added to less than great food choices and one or two beers meant I felt pretty shitty when I got back.  So it’s been full on detox with lots of early morning rebounding, running about bare-foot on the grass, fresh air, greeeeeeeen juices and just talking it nice and easy.  I have to say I feel chuffing fantastic now.  It’s funny how it only takes your body a couple of days to get back in to full swing with feeling alive and energetic again.  What a bloody marvellous machine it is eh?

Anyway, here’s some juicy pics.  My gorgeous friend Lucy lent me her Champion Juicer.  It’s the best juicer I’ve used even though it looks like it’d be at home in a nuclear power plant 🙂 However, it seems to have a bit of apoplexy with me juicing green leaves.  Not sure if I’m just doing it wrong.

First one: cucumber, half an apple, ginger, cabbage, courgette, celery, spinach, dandelion, parsley

juicy thanks to lucy

we are the champions

mmm mmm mmm mmm

Second one: grapefruit, ginger, celery, courgette, cabbage, broccoli, cucumber, dandelion, sorrel, parsley, clover and dead nettle

chuffing marvellous

everyone loves greeeeen juice

I forgot how amazing greeeeeen juice can make you feel.  It will plug you in baby!  Thinking about a mini juice feast…

Have lots of magical fun

ooh they do look lovely. Any tips for getting me back to green goodness? Was kinds put off after having a bad reaction to wheatgrass….downed small glass of the grassy stuff…fast forward 1 hour and was being violently sick. not fun. now even the smell of strong greens puts me off, can manage to eat them though. Would you recommend putting more apple/fruit in at first?

    Hey Ros
Wheatgrass is very strong if you’re not used to it. I have to just take a tiny bit (like a shot size or less) to build myself up to it again. It took me a few days to get to drinking more than that and I have to say I felt pretty sick the first few times. Apparently the worse you feel the more toxic you are but it could just be a shock to the system to be so heavily alkalised…
I think green juices work on the same principle, it’s a good idea to build up the amount of greens you have until you can cut down on the fruity sweetness. I don’t think green juices are as hardcore as wheatgrass at all – not the same ballpark even so you should be ok with some apple, lemon, ginger or grapefruit to take the edge off. You could see how you go on half an apple and some lemon and if the taste is too powerful add another apple in to make it sweeter.
In my experience after your body gets used to this it will naturally ask for less sweetness and more greens and bob’s your uncle 🙂

Hope this helps a bit <3 xx

Thanks Em! Will give that a go. yeah was told that the reaction was cos I was detoxing…but am not 100% sure I belive it cos had been eating raw for a while before, and pretty high raw and mostly vegan before that anyway, with a tiny bit of dairy. So surely I couldn’t have been THAT toxic?! Anyhoo, just had a bit of raw online retail therapy so am awaiting my goodies 🙂 will make some green juice in the meantime! Ta muchly Em-sicle! x

Yeah it doesn’t sound like you were that toxic, maybe it was just a bit too much for the system? Did you take a shot or a glass? I think your body gets a serious dose of alkalinity and it can make you feel a bit iffy. I’m going to order some from Aconbury and see how I get on after over a year with none! 🙂

Oh I LOVE raw online retail therapy – hope you got lots of nice stuff!

    Em-sicle – ha ha love it! x

Em-sicle is your new name! If I ever come to Grassroots I’m gonna shout ‘EM-SICLE’ across to store! yeah it was quite a big glass of wheatgrass, poss 2-3 shots worth at someone’s house, so not measured out like in a juice bar. maybe it was the alkalinity? Who knows, but I’d take it slow next time anyway.

My raw goodies are: cacao butter, chia seeds, lacuma and maca. Been making skin creams as well as eating the goodies, so need some more cacao butter. Smells lush lush yum! Will just have to try not to eat it, and remember to put it on my skin!

    TTFN 🙂

Look forward to more blog updates. you make me laugh, you speak like I think! Well except your Glaswegian and I’m a foreign import to Scotland (Shhh, I’m English!). Rx
