I could eat breakfast all day long. I’m definitely a breakfast kinda girl.Β  After I got in to raw foods I really missed a bowl of cereal.Β  There’s nothing handier and tastier as a snack than a big bowl of cereal in my opinion.Β  Or cereal for dinner.Β  And drinking the last bits straight out the bowl…Mmm…

Anyway, so imagine my delight that a number of raw cereals are making their way to the UK market? πŸ™‚Β  Well. lucky for you you don’t have to imagine my delight because I’m about to plaster it all over this blog post.Β  WOOOOO DEEEEEEEELIGHTTTT πŸ™‚

Conventional breakfast cereals, touted as healthy, tend to be overly processed, full of sugar and salt and void of nutrition (unless you count artificial colouring, preservatives and flavouring as one of your five a day) πŸ˜‰Β  Don’t be conned in to falling for the ‘full of vitamins and minerals’ bullshit either.Β  The nutrients in conventional supermarket cereals are synthetic (i.e. a man made them) which are much less nutritious (obviously) and sometimes even dangerous for your sexy bod!

These little raw beauties are nutritionally sound, full of yummy ecstatic flavours, superfoods and ingredients guaranteed to make your breakfast bowl sit up all night awake just cos it’s so excited to have something so utterly devine and gorgeous to hold for your morning pleasure πŸ™‚

Kate Magic has released 3 new cereals which she calls Be Real.Β  There’s Be Good, Be Bright and Be Happy which are made from sprouted enzyme-rich buckwheat, camu-camu, lucuma and probiotics to help your tum do cartwheels of joy.Β  My fave is Be Good which is the chocolate (no surprise there) and mulberry infusion as well as yumbo superfood ashwaganda thrown in on top for good measure.Β  I hadn’t been prepared enough to soak my nuts so made a quick hemp milk using shelled hemp seeds and xylitol.Β  Hemp milk from shelled is not as good as hemp milk from unshelled (are you keeping up?) but when you’ve been a bit lazy it’s quick to make and still nutritious.Β  I used about 3 tbsp of seeds to 1 cup water and 1tsp xylitol blended and no need to strain – another bonus of shelled.

be very good

Viva Pure are stocking Living Intentions Chocolate Granola.Β  More chocolate for breakfast?Β  Forget coco pops, tell that monkey to come back to you when he’s decided not to add so much shit to his cereal and has instead got his little monkey hands on some maca, dulse and reishi to turn the milk chocolatey πŸ™‚Β Β  This stuff is bloody amazing enjoyed with almond milk.

i'd rather have a bowl of cacao crunch

I also made this yumbo breakkie this week.Β  Strawberry porridge.Β  1 cup buckwheat soaked overnight – rinse well in the morning – process with 1 cup strawbs, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp xylitol.Β  Bloody marvellous

juice like a strawberry

Look what Sarah from Grassroots made…it’s a raw whoopie pie!Β  Lavender flavour if you can believe?Β  That girl deserves a crystal manna crown

whoopeee

Gorgeous gorgeous.

Heaven truly is sitting eating chocolate cereal while watching the infinitely gorgeous Michael Hutchence…

Are you ready for a new sensation?

Em-sicle, you’re a buckwheat beauty! That strawberry porridge is gorgeous! Niamh and I had it for brekkie today, and I think its my new fav breakfast πŸ™‚ Thanks for your fab genius-ness in the kitchen. And those choccie cereals looks amazing too, but I think I’d eat them all at once!

haha thanks Ros, it’s yummy isn’t it? I’ve tried it too with banana or blueberries, really nice and creamy πŸ™‚
Yes put it this way, the whole pack of cacao crunch is gone already! πŸ™‚ xx

We had buckwheat and mango porridge this morning with a pinch of ground cardamons as well as cinnamon….just too tasty! Not a drop got spilled on the floor by young Niamh so she must have loved it as much as I did (although I do still have strawberry porridge on the wall from yesterday where she flicked the spoon a little too enthusiastically….).

Am going to try and make my own choccie granola crunch for 8 quid for a tiddly little bag that will be gone in minutes seems a bit steep! Buckwheat soaking as we speak. πŸ™‚

Wanted to ask you how you set up your blog too. Am going to start one for my business that’s been dormant for since I went on maternity leave. did you use a special programme?

    Ta muchly Em-sicle,

oooh nice combo! ha ha you’re not a raw foodist unless you have coloured spatters all over the wall and ceiling πŸ™‚

let me know how you get on with the cacao granola -yeah it’s a bit steep but handy if a) you can’t be arsed making some or b) travelling. i reckon i’ll take some to rome with me πŸ™‚

i just used wordpress from their website as my blog but then rod put it in my actual website – not sure how he did that, all above my head. so if you want just a blog then wordpress is good but if you want wordpress in a website then that’s a bit different πŸ™‚

brill Em, thanks for the info.

had a good go at making some of my own choc granola. basically just chucked in a bit of everything in the ingredients list, (minus a few things I didn’t have),and spread onto a dehyrdtaor tray over night. most yum! Think it needs a bit of something to bind it though and so it comes out in chunks rather than more crumbly. pro should have ground the flax…will let you know the recipe once I’ve perfected it if you like?

See ya later BSG geek πŸ˜‰

Oh yeah for sure! would something sticky and sweet bind it like an agave sub? I’m using coconut nectar just now and it’s really sticky. Might be worth a shot. I’m quite in the mood for trying something too. Let me know your recipe and I can try that πŸ™‚ xx

No prob, perhaps it can be a joint recipe effort?! Here’s what I made yesterday – made 1 dehydrator sheet and it filled 1.5 ikea jars!

    choccie granola

    1 cup coconut powder/dessicated coconut
    3/4 cup agave
1/2 handful dulse, whizzed in vitamix
    2 heaped tbsp cacao
    1tbsp maca
    1tbsp lacuma
    1 cup raisins
    1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
    1/3 cup flax seeds
    1 tbsp vanilla extract
    pinch salt
    2 tbsp coconut oil, melted

    2 cups buckwheat, sprouted

    mix all and dehydrate overnight.

have already had 2 bowls today, one for brekkie and one for a snack. Might need another one to accompany Derren Brown watching right now…. πŸ™‚

Let me know if you can improve on the recipe! Its yum, but a bit crumbly.

    Granola update: πŸ™‚

Its way better if you add a few tbsp of soaked oats in the morning, then smother it in almond milk. I found it was a bit too sickly and chocolately on its onw, but better with oats as well.

Also, it firms up in the fridge where its been in jars. So solves the crumbly problem!
