Reasons I love raw

By Emma Mar 6 0

Going to have to think of titles for my blog posts, it’s a bit tricky because once you’ve written your title I think you’re kinda tied in to writing about that topic and Day 2 or a date just seems far too general and well, boring. So, maybe I’ll write my titles after I’ve written the blog. Good idea.

Anyway today was rather smashing.  Had a super smoothie which Rod actually asked for a glass of! Rod is my ‘cooked’ husband ha ha that term is bizarre but you know what I mean right?  It’s rare he wants to try any of my smoothies because usually they’re “too green” or “too earthy” but today was a nice fruity one of 2 bananas, a plum, a pear, 1/2 punnet blueberries and a papaya.  I’m feeling awfully fruity lately which isn’t like me, especially with the snow still outside but maybe my body is wishing it was the tropics 🙂

Went for tea at Tchai-O-vna in the West end with my friend Gary.  We had a nice chat over a HUGE pot of yogi chai which is my fave tea.  Anyone who hasn’t been to this tea shop definitely ought to try it out, they have over 200 teas (http://tchaiovna.com) which you can also buy online.  It’s a veggie place that has vegan but not any raw stuff…yet.

On the way home I had so much energy in the car, probably from all the honey and caffeine 🙂 blasting out some of this wicked song

I love love love singing loudly and dancing about wildly in my car (safely of course). I can imagine every cell of my body dancing along.

By the time I got home I had so much energy I decided to bounce on my rebounder for a while.  Rebounders, for those that don’t know, are little trampolines which are fantastic for toning up your entire body plus they are great fun when you add your favourite music.  I like to dance along to anything from Beastie Boys and Prodigy to 5ive and Luther Vandross – whatever works baby!  It’s really the only exercising I can be bothered with at the moment.  When the Sun comes out a bit more I’ll do some running and walks.  I’ve been trying to ‘get in’ to yoga for years now and it’s still on my list of things to do.  I think I prefer something a bit more active that I can have fun with.  I reckon I’ll film some rebound dancing and upload it soon, it’s too much fun.

After a workout I really crave bananas so made a nice smoothie from 2 bananas, 2 pears, 2 teaspoon spirulina, 2 dates and some crystal manna with about 1/2 litre of water.  Really tasty.  This one was “too green” for Rod, I’m quite pleased, I don’t always want to share with him 😉

Last night I was thinking about something Doug Graham (author of 80-10-10) said.  He said that there’s a real increase in the number of young people turning to raw food.  It’s interesting that more and more 20 and 30-somethings are interested in health, or perhaps vanity?  There’s no doubt about it raw food is SEXY.  It certainly isn’t the way ‘vegetarianism’ was depicted in 70s and 80s – all brown cardigans, sandals and lentils!  The people I know who eat a lot of raw food seem to exude sexiness or rather they radiate a glow that you can’t quite put your finger on.  The food is sexy, the colours, the energy.  So it makes sense, eat sexy food and become sexy.  I reckon a LOT of people would go for that – younger or older.

I’ve just turned 31 and whilst I wish I’d discovered raw food when I was much younger being able to tap in to this beautifying and sexifying portal now is a god send.  When I’ve fallen in to a pattern of eating cooked food I definitely notice a drop in how I feel in my body, my energy levels drop and the old wrinkles start to re-appear.  On top of this I just CAN’T BE BOTHERED.  That’s the bottom line with raw food I find.  When I eat raw I can be bothered.  I can be bothered cleaning the kitchen.  I can be bothered to do housework.  I can be bothered to do stuff.  Raw food gives me the energy I need to live my life, what better gift is there than that?

Gosh I’ve gone off on several tangents now haven’t I?  Well really what I wanted to get across was sexifying and being bothered 🙂

I’m off to do stuff now, trying to give facebook a break for a week to see if I can so I have all this spare time to do stuff.  Just need to figure out what stuff to do 🙂
