I have a question for you.
Whatever is going on in your life, however you’re feeling, would you like to be happier than you are now?
What if I told you that you were already truly happy? That all your problems, all your heartache, everything that has ever bothered you, were illusions that you could choose to eliminate from your life and that if you did, you’d discover that underneath it all, your true nature is blissful?
And if I told you that this could happen in the space of one weekend? And that you don’t even have to do anything? No programme to follow, no meditation, no techniques, no library of self-help books to delve into – no actual work to do?
You wouldn’t believe me, right? You might even get a bit annoyed at the suggestion that you would choose not to be happy. If you did think that, you wouldn’t find that feeling pleasant, but you could choose to let the thought pass, and then you’d feel better again.
That’s how simple the Three Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought can be: choosing not to focus on negative thoughts and giving your attention to pleasant ones instead. That’s how we create our experiences.
Believe me, I’ve done a lot towards creating better experiences over the years. I’m sure you have too. Some worked well, some not so well. The good ones can do a lot of good, but while the benefits can be lasting, it can take some effort to incorporate your new habits into your lifestyle in the long term. The Three Principles are different: there are no new habits to get into.
I’m not sure what it was that drew me to spending a weekend with Dean Rees-Evans last month, just listening to him talk about the Three Principles. Actually, that’s not true: I was attracted by Dean’s highly infectious happiness. It comes through in his voice and in his laughter, and it’s written all over his face. I wanted some of that.
It was unlike any other course I’ve ever been on. No breakout groups, no workbooks, no lectures, no notetaking. Neither was there any attempt to alter our states of consciousness. We were simply encouraged to listen with open minds.
The Three Principles isn’t a technique or a programme: it’s a way of understanding our true nature, and once you’ve heard it, there’s no turning back. Happiness is mandatory from here on in, and it lasts. In fact, Dean’s MSc research showed an increase in people’s happiness levels of nearly 30%!
My own happiness levels haven’t been measured, but I can tell you that in the last few weeks, I’ve been getting far more compliments than before. I have more energy and enthusiasm, several people have told me how much they love being around me, my domestic situation is more harmonious and new opportunities have opened up to me. Even our pets are more affectionate. It’s hard to put my finger on why all this is happening. Maybe it’s just that a lot of the time, I’m in my natural state of bliss?
Next month, Dean will be coming to Scotland on February 25th and 26th to share the Principles with us. There will be an Early Bird offer till February 12th and places are booking fast.
I’d love you to discover your birthright of happiness too. See you there?
