As you’ll recall, the fabulous Mr P McC was in weegie land only a few weeks back giving an inspirational talk on his raw transformation. You can read about our adventures here. For those of you who don’t know, Philip shed an amazing 215lbs (nearly 15 stone) on a raw food diet, check out his before and after shots here – they’re quite somet!
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of his cheeky wee books Raw Food Salad Bar which is a compilation of simple soups and salads. Now, soups and salads don’t tend to be your usual winter fare when it comes to raw food but I have to tell you my body has been screaming out for some simple food stuffs. Even considered mono-mealing! If you don’t know what that is, it’s when you just eat one food for a certain period of time. Just one! That doesn’t mean “I choose biscuits” because biscuits have a lot of ingredients in them. Nope siree, it literally means one food like grapefruit or cucumbers. Anyway, you get the drift, simplicity is key for me right now.
Raw Food Salad Bar contains a mixture of Vegetable Salads, Autumn & Winter Salads (yay), Fruit Salads, Comfort Soups and Summer Cooler Soups with a grand total of 78 sexy recipes at a fabby £11.63 (at current conversion rates).
What do I love about this book?
It’s very cute and simple with nice photos
All the recipes are simple and easy to prepare
It only requires a hand blender or no equipment at all
The recipes are inspired and tasty (try the Marrakesh Express woo mamma!)
The recipes don’t have a bizillion ingredients.
Are there any downsides?
No downsides as such although I think you’d be hard pushed to find some of the ingredients for some recipes. I had to look up what some of them even were e.g. rutabaga? But, it’s easy enough to substitute the items you don’t have or have no idea what it actually is 🙂
Here’s a cheeky wee recipe from the book (with PMcC’s permission of course)
Avocado Soup
- 1 Avocado, pitted and peeled
- 1 Cucumber, seeded and peeled
- 1/2 cup water (or enough to blend)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Sea Salt and Black Pepper to taste
- 1/2 garlic clove, peeled
Blend until smooth and creamy
All in all a lovely sexy wee book that’s handy to have on your kitchen shelf 🙂
Get yours here
As Philip likes to say (since weegieville trip), Yaldi!
