Paddy Queen – 11 questions I ask scottish raw foodies

By Emma Jun 29 8

Paddy is the first ever raw person I found in Scotland back in 2007.  Can you imagine? Only 1 person I could find doing this and now there are over 100 people in the raw group for Glasgow alone!  Paddy actually is an angel, only a few people know that.  He has a brain like Mary Poppin’s bag, just full of everything you ever need or want to know.  He’s definitely wise beyond his young years and we all think he is magic which is apparent from his ace interview answers 🙂

1. How long have you been in to raw foods?

About 5-6 years

2. How did you discover raw foods?

A website called acne advice led me to Shazzies website where I read her 6 years worth of journals on going raw.  After reading this I began to experiment and explore in more depth.

3. What were some of the first benefits you noticed?

It was a long time ago so im gonna guess based on the benefits I experience now;  Better skin quality, better mood, higher energy levels, deeper sleep, more calm and relaxed.

4. Were there any drawbacks? If so, what and how did you handle?

Yes. I found it extremely challenging to stabilise on a raw food/healthier diet. I had swings between eating healthily and eating unhealthily, periods of healthy eating followed by massive binges on crap. I dealt with it by believing I was doing the right thing and continuing to move forward no matter how scared, fearful or alone I felt. I also realise now that a lot of what I was experiencing then was just a reflection on my beliefs on the inside. When I really did the inner work on myself and changed my beliefs and expectations then things changed for the better on the outside for me.

5. How did your family and friends react?

Well based on the reactions I got I think my family felt like I was doing something dangerous and crazy. My friends were less opinionated on the matter, probably because they noticed less what was happening and I was less vocal with them about what I was doing. Now my friends and family fully love, respect and support me in the choices I make in my life, I am an inspiration to them.

6. How did you handle reactions? any tips?

I handled reactions differently, some situations would upset and deeply effect me and others less so. A good piece of advice in my opinion would be to fully love and respect the people in your life for where they are at. I think it is much better to inspire and uplift those around you by being an example instead of preaching to others about how they ‘should’ be living there lives.

7. What advice would you give people who are interested in raw foods on how to get started?

Set goals about where you desire your health to be and read and focus on these goals as much as possible. Also spend some time every day visualising yourself healthy, results will come much faster when you do this.

Also remember that health is a combination of factors, not just food. Focusing on water, oxygenation, emotional and spiritual well being, sleep etc. will give you a more complete picture of health than if you were to just focus on food alone.

In addition to this surround yourself with things and people that uplift you and inspire you to be more. I like the quotes;

”You become like you become like the people you surround yourself with”

and

”Garbage in garbage out”

Feed your brain with the highest quality and most up scale material and you will be rewarded.  Ive been reading this today and it has inspired me so I am going to post it along with this answer because I can 🙂

8. What is your number 1 raw tip?

Give thanks and be grateful for every meal you eat, we are so blessed to have the choices and variety of foods that we have available to us today.

9. What is your favourite raw food and why?

Mango because it gives me more pleasure than any other food

10. If you could be any raw food what would you be and why?

Mango again beacause I would be able to give people so much pleasure.

11. How do you see the raw movement in Scotland in five years time?

My outcome for Scotland in 5 years in regard to raw food is;

There will be 7 raw cafés
All non raw cafes/delis will have raw food options
4 raw restaurants
A raw food option on every restaurant menu
A smoothie and tonic/elixir bar in Glasgow and Edinburgh
Supermarkets will have isles dedicated solely to raw foods
There will be raw un-cookery programmes on television in Scotland
Doctors in Scotland will be turned on to raw foods and recommending the diet to patients as a way to speed up healing.
A healing centre/retreat will open in Scotland which incorporates raw foods as part of the healing programme.
Scotland will be one of the main destinations for the leading nutritional speakers of the world. They will come to Scotland to speak and there talks will be sold out.
The people of Scotland will be inspired and wake up to radiant health and Scotland will go from one of the sickest countries to the one of the healthiest.

Okay getting carried away lol.

Now, I’m not normally prone to this behaviour, and I have only been eating raw for about 10 days, but it was AWESOME…………THANK YOU xxxxxx ps – Paddy thanks for sharing xx
