raw food and money

By Emma May 25 0

I read an interesting article by Karen Knowler here about raw food and money.  In it Karen claims:

“the more raw you go, the more you either want to totally put money out of your life and wish that it didn’t exist OR the more you want to earn/create/gain financially..This might sound contradictory, but what both scenarios have in common is one big and very important thing for raw food visionaries … FREEDOM.”

Karen goes on to say that the connection between raw food and money is even stronger in that taking stock of your relationship with money, and really thinking about it and mastering it, is critical to your raw food success and quality of life.

I guess I’d have to agree on the basis that taking stock of one aspect of your life usually has an impact on everything else.  How you do one thing is how you do everything etc.  If you clean up your diet you can’t help but look to clean up your relationships with people, your job, your money etc.  The energy has shifted.  So by the same token it works the other way around, clean up your money and everything else will fall in to place, including your diet!

Granted, some might think the connection between raw food and money an odd one (check out my earlier posting about the link between raw food and spirituality here), but is there a link between eating raw food and your subsequent feelings and behaviour around money?

I guess I’d have to say yes based on my own experience.  In particular I’d have to agree that the freedom aspect is absolutely key for me for where I’m at in my life at the moment and this has been getting stronger and stronger over the last two years.

My mind has opened much more to the possibilities available to me, to choosing an alternative path and stepping outside the mainstream of 9-5 monotony.

For the last few years I’ve set about shedding myself of anything that could tie me down in an effort to gain more freedom, irrespective of what this has meant for me financially.  For example, almost two years ago I stepped off the housing ladder (contrary to all advice) just as the recession kicked in.  Now, I rent a flat (at the moment in Reykjavik) and although it’s not financially “advisable”, the freedom and choice that it’s given me is exactly what I’m interested in at this time in my life.  I couldn’t be happier that I made that decision.  I can get up and move to wherever I want, whenever I want without a huge mortgage round my neck dragging me down for the next 40 years.

More recently, I’ve been thinking about how I can let go of all my ‘stuff”, all the things that tie me down to one place (mostly my furniture and junk).  What I want is absolute freedom to go wherever and do whatever I want with as little ‘stuff’ as I can…  Because my dream is to travel, to experience, to adventure!

Would this have happened had I not ‘gone raw’?  Possibly…I’ll never know.  But my passion for everything has changed since I cleaned up my act so to speak so I’m pretty sure there is a relationship there.

For me, the connection between raw food and money is almost certainly to do with my quality of life and obtaining total freedom, to setting about achieving the opportunities that I wish to pursue, that before hadn’t even come in to my conscious awareness.  Again there’s the spirituality aspect.  There’s certainly a tenacious link between it all.  I believe it!

Ironically, part of that freedom I desire is the freedom from being worried about money, freedom to pursue all that I want out of life without worrying about the cash flow to support my dreams!

That’s where there’s room for improvement.  My relationship with money has certainly improved, we’re mostly on speaking terms 🙂

I’m making a commitment right now to work on my money so that I can…move to Reykjavik! 🙂

The link below contains a free call with Karen about using the Money Breakthrough Method to address your money issues.  I really enjoyed listening to this call and learned a lot about my own behaviour around money.

The Money Breakthrough Method Experience”, which is a follow-on from this content. This program is being re-run one time only this year, online over a 6-week period, starting Thursday 4th June 2011

So what do you think?  I’d love to hear your feedback on whether you’ve noticed any difference around how you are with your money since eating more raw food.  Leave  a comment below and tell me 🙂
