Kitchen cupboard skincare

By Emma Oct 11 0

Hello my lovely!

You already know from here and here how over the top SERIOUS I am about not eating any ridiculous chemical-laden skincare prods with my very skin now don’t you?

I don’t even need to go there about the icky toxic waste they put in these things we call ‘skin care‘ do I?  No I don’t.

Just wanted to share a few of my top personal super duper stuff for ma bod skin care ingredients that you’ll likely find in your very own personal super duper kitchen!

It’s great when you rely on natural products like these, especially when you’re travelling (like what I am) because you can just walk in to any shop and buy them easy peasy.  No need to cart loads of lotions and potions around with you…

So here are my top picks.

Honey

Or as I like to call it, antibacterial, anti-ageing super hero!  Aim for a quality organic raw honey but if you can’t then a really good quality will do.

Honey makes for an excellent all over body cleanser.  Use a smidge to wash your face, massage gently then wash off for super silky, moisturised, heavenly skin!  You can use it all over.  Sweet as!

Salt

Get your sexy little hands on some quality salt (think Himalayan or Celtic sea salt) finely ground and dissolved in water it makes an excellent facial cleanser for deep down dirt.  If the salt is fine enough you can use a smidgen to exfoliate by gently massaging in.  Rinse then follow up with honey cleanse to moisturise.

Lemon/Lime

These little beauties are nature’s very own cleansers.  Squish ’em up and rub on your face or body for a super tingley refreshing zingy deep down clean.

Coconut butter

You know from this C-RAZY post how much I loves me some coconut butter.  This awesome all-rounder will moisturise your whole bod, act as an awesome lip balm, makes a handy mascara replacement, take off your make up, protect you from the sun, do the dishes, send your mother flowers and give you an orgasm a day!  Yep.  I love coconut butter!

Olive oil

Just really got started with this one but it’s making a fabulous body moisturiser.  I slop it on before I go to bed and wake up super soft and NOT stinking of olives like you might expect.  Again, quality is key!  I also used it to shave my armpits this morning and they’re now super moist.  Too much information?  Raw food does not get rid of armpit hair you know!

Bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)

Yes who’d have thunk it but this sexy little white powder your granny used to make cakey cakes is a super exfoliator.  Take a small amount and rub in a circular motion on wet skin to give you soft exfoliated skin.

You can also stick your toothbrush in and use it to whiten your teeth.  Cosmic.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You can drink it or you can use it as a magic facial toner.  Add a couple of capfuls to a basin of water and splash face or use 3 parts water to 1 part ACV and some cotton wool to dab on your face.  Using it straight is too strong and will stink your face off so that nobody wants to snog you.  We don’t want THAT to happen!

Recipe time (ooh yeah)

Here’s a gorgeous skin care recipe donated by my sexy friend Leyna.  It’s for a scrub so I’m calling it ‘You Scrubber’ not that I’m implying you’re a female tramp who would satisfy a male’s needs without so much as a second thought you understand…

You Scrubber

100ml almond oil

120g ground almonds

20ml cider vinegar or lemon juice

50ml water

6 drops of essential oil

Blend the ingredients in to a paste and keep in glass jar.  If it’s too thick add more water.  Store in the fridge to prevent it from going foosty but aim to use it straight away.

So there you go.  Awesome.  What’s your favourite skincare tip or recipe?
