Intuitive eating. It comes from inside. It’s instinctive. It’s the difference between what’s going on inside your body and what’s going on in the outside world. Tapping in to intuitive eating means really grasping that the answers to health and vitality for your body are within YOU. They are not to be found in some book or some other person’s belief system.
The secret of life is found in life itself and not in doctrines and ideas about life. Alan Watts
Intuitive eating means going inside habitually to become more in tune with your body. Nobody and nothing on the outside can know as well as you do what will work and what won’t.
Intuitive eating is about bringing the power back to our bodies and having faith that it knows how to heal and regenerate itself. When we give our power away, to doctors, to pharma, to other health professionals, to idiots who think they know the answer to bloody everything that’s going on in the world, we are basically saying to our bodies that we don’t trust them to know what’s right. We’re giving it all away.
Meditation is all about going inside. The answers are all in there. It’s just that they’re drowned out by everyone else’s shite. We’re so bombarded with messages about what to eat, what not to eat, the right and the wrong of what we’re eating, that we get so confused.
Don’t get me wrong, listening to and hearing your body takes time. It’s an ongoing learning process. It’s something that needs gentle cultivation and encompasses an ongoing decision to honour your self, your body.
It involves enhanced awareness, letting yourself get hungry rather than grazing. It involves taking a few moments before you eat something to really go inside, to ask your body what it needs. Go inside, ask the question and give yourself peace and space to hear the answer. It might not come straight away, but that doesn’t mean you stop asking. When you’re at the food market, really take time to look at the food, touch it, smell it. Get back in touch with your natural connection to food. Talk to if it you have to! Just become more conscious. More aware. Slowly you will begin to hear the messages from your body.
You will know when you’ve made a decision to pursue something with your mind over your natural instinct because the results will be less than fabulous for your body. You will feel it. That’s how this works. Trusting and learning and experimenting and going with your own flow until you hone your choices to what works for you. It’s a beautiful thing, baby!
I can sense the difference between my body choosing something and my mind choosing. When my body chooses the image or name of the food comes to my mind in a different, more subtle way. I feel a sensation below my throat that tells me this is what my body requires. It’s not always there, but it appears more and more and when it does, I know. I trust it.
I trust it more than I trust what anyone outside of me has to say.
Inside – knows what you really need
Outside – tells you what you want
Inside – holds the inner knowledge and awareness
Outside – gives your power away to others and is largely unconscious
Inside – there is clarity
Outside – there is confusion and uncertainty
Inside – there is satisfaction
Outside – there is constant craving
Inside – there is flexibility
Outside – there is ideology
Inside – there are questions
Outside – there are conclusions
Inside – is body
Outside – is mind
Nothing disturbs the stomach like the mind. Osho
On the RFS facebook page I give you insights in to what I eat, what I think about raw food, but please don’t take it as any kind of prescriptive advice. It’s what’s working for me at any given time. I encourage you to discover for yourself what you love and what makes your whole world ROCK.
Your inner light is just that, inner. It’s not imposed from the outside.
