good 2 give

By Emma Mar 24 0

Ooops not been blogging in a couple of days!  I’ve been away with work again – that’s my excuse.

Soooo what I want to blether about today is GIVING.  I signed myself up for this 29 day giving challenge.  I did it once before a year or so ago and about half way through I ended up giving…up haha!  I guess my motivation and inspiration waned and that was that plus I didn’t have facebook then!  Perhaps another reason it didn’t work out last time is because I hadn’t made my intention public enough.  Now that I’m facebooking my challenge (and gifts)  there’s real accountability!  Today is Day 4 and I think I’m just really starting to get in to the swing of it now.  So far I’ve given away food and books and dvds.  Today I sent my auntie some flowers, I haven’t seen her in at least two years!  She’s just phoned to say it’s made her day!  How lovely 🙂 I also made some raw chocolate to give as gifts to some friends and a bag of purple corn flour that I had spare.  Not too bad although I don’t think spare things are as good to give.  Yesterday’s gift felt AMAZING because it was so spontaneous and a great idea.

I went in to the Spar to put money in the charity box but wasn’t chuffed as I thought it was for the PDSA but it’s been replaced for cancer research and I disagree with giving money for a ‘cure’ for a disease that’s predominantly caused by poor lifestyle choices.  It’s like “oh we need to find a cure for hangovers, there must be a cure, a pill, to cure us of hangovers” – common sense really.  ANYWAY, best not get me started on that.  So I bought Rod a Dairy Milk and then it hit me –  buy a lottery ticket for someone.  So I asked for a lucky dip and went straight to the first person I could find in the shop.  As I walked towards him with the lottery ticket he went to put out his hand to say no thanks.  He must’ve thought I was handing out flyers.  The look on his face when I said I wanted to give something away was one of utter dumstruckedness (that isn’t a word).  What a feeling!  I’d really encourage people to join the challenge.  You don’t need to join the site to do it and you don’t need to give away material things, even your time or a nice hand made card, or a smile!  You’d be amazed at the mind-shift that needs to take place to constantly think of ways to GIVE! 🙂

Exercising!  Managed to put together a playlist on my ipod that lasts about half an hour and I’ve been enjoying rebounding to that every day.  Now that I’m getting more serious about exercising I’m kinda thinking that this is really just my warm up whereas before I’d have considered this my daily exercise routine!  My exercise dvds are good but I can’t wait till I can exercise outside in the SUN!  When it starts to get warmer I’m going to start swimming outside again.  Swimming outdoors is absolutely awesome and there’s a great lake a few miles away just perfect for a morning swim.  My flat tummy dvd is absolutely SOLID.  I find that I swear a lot when doing this dvd and rod seems to find it rather amusing.

I’m really enjoying the changes I can see in my body so far, even after only a couple of weeks of exercising.  It’s so hugely motivating to actually SEE and FEEL the changes!  Makes all the shouting, swearing and crying worthwhile 😉

So over the last few days I made a nice curry:

1 sweet potato, 1/2 butternut squash, 2 celery, 2 tomatoes, 1 carrot, 1/4 red chilli 1 tablespoon curry paste, pinch salt, 1/2 avocado and handful coriander for the sauce.  Blend and pour over your favourite chopped veggies.  You can leave the blender running to heat it up.

A yummy banana choc desert:

in a bowl mix 1 tablespoon raw tahini, 1 tablespoon raw honey, 1 heaped teaspoon raw choc powder, 1 teaspoon lucuma, bit of water until you get a nice thick consistency.  Pour over chopped banana. Mine was a bit runny cos I added too much water – still chocalicious

A nice GREEEEEN smoothie:

1 banana, 1 pink grapefruit, 1 punnet blueberries, 1 handful spinach, 1/2 cucumber, 2 celery, 1 small handful coriander. BLEND.  I really want to get back in to my green smoothies, then I can blog about them more!
