Yo yo! Yesterday I had a dander about checking out some health food shops for raw food in Reykjavik. I’m choosing to get out of this mentality that I’m on a long holiday and actually buy some stuff to make food in the apartment rather than eat out all the time, tempting as it is!
I found loads of superfoods and amazing raw foods check it out:
There’s no doubt the selection is AMAZING in the variety of health food shops that exist in Reykjavik. There’s unsurprisingly a good selection of sea vegetables too. However, I won’t lie to you, as much as we think superfoods are pricey back home (UK) they are on another planet here! Well, ok I exaggerate a little but definitely an extra 20-30% dearer than what you’d pay back home. The good news is that because Om Bars are pricier here I won’t be partaking in them (err, ok, as much) so the choc addiction is in for a serious kicking. Woo!
I went to Gló which is a restaurant which seems to be in the middle of an industrial area. It serves raw food options and has an amazing vibe about it, despite the weirdness of it’s location.
I had the raw thai dish, check it oooot:
Which you get with three helpings of your choice of salad dish and as much hummus as you can scrape on your plate…cos it’s FREEEE! Free hummus! Why don’t we do this back home? Amazing idea. Moving on…
There was a raw dessert on offer but I felt pretty full so didn’t go for it – what is wrong with me? 🙂
Gló‘s food is fantastic and I’d highly recommend a visit, even if you’re not raw there are plenty of healthy cooked options to check out. My meal came to about £8.50 in all – load up on that free hummus! Typical Scot eh?
So yeah, today I’ve got a shite load on my to-do list although I’m finding that I’m not really doing that much. Just relaxing in to a new place – takes time! I am going for a run in the morning each day which is amazing and the swimming pools are out of this world. Check out my other blog for the chat.
I am off to check out ANOTHER health food shop but this is a restaurant too. Tried to find it yesterday but got lost a bit. I like getting lost, forces your brain to engage and you end up seeing new exciting things like swings to play on 🙂
Have an amazing day! x
