I got some of Elwin Robinson’s Taoist Tonic Supersmoothie Mix from his smashing website Lion Heart Herbs. Elwin has put together an amazing range of tonic herbal teas to alleviate all kinds of health challenges. I’ve been drinking his Cleanse tea for a few weeks now and can really feel the benefits. Elwin produces 5 different herbal super tea blends including Cleanse, Immune, Rejuvenate, Serenity and Strength. He has a video about each of the teas on his website to tell you what they include and the benefits, definitely check it out! Herbal teas are such an amazing way to get goodness and vitality in to the system from ancient and revered plants across the universe.
‘If you can make and drink a cup of tea you can optimise and transform your health and your life’ Elwin Robinson
Having got hooked on the tea I decided to try out the super smoothie mix. I was literally blown away with just how jam packed it is with superpower foods! A lot of blends just have a handful of your usual run of the mill superfoods – boring! Check out the ingredients in Elwin’s blend which packs one helluva punch:
Carob, Mesquite, Astragalus, Pau D’Arco, Ashwaganda, Rosehips, Cat’s Claw, Maca, Artichoke, Milk Thistle, Sacha Jergon, Burdock Root, Suma, Tribulus, Licorice, Noni, Chanca Piedra, Chaga, Rhodiola, Whole Vanilla Pods, Chuchuhuasi, Jatoba, Shitake, Lysine.
I’ll admit I can neither spell nor pronounce some of those ingredients but suffice it to say I know they are all super amazing tonic herbs, mushooms and plants with about 5000 years worth of proven effectiveness – how’s that for a track record? Taoist tonic herbs help to restore balance and strength to the organs as well as their corresponding glands and systems.
It’s great to know you don’t have to go out and buy all these amazing products individually when they come so easily accessible in one big scrummy bag! A tablespoon or two of this blend will activate your inner god/goddess and send you to outer space and back before you’ve finished your breakfast!
Elwin is a wee sweetheart and sends you a recipe for making the most outstanding chocolate with the mix. I’ve made it a few times already and it tastes amazing. Because there’s no cacao in the mix you can be sure of a steady high that won’t have you buzzing round the place like a wasp on speed.
I’ve been throwing the mix in nut milks and it’s absolutely sublime! Here’s a cheeky wee recipe for you I’ve been thoroughly addicted to:
I love how I always forget ingredients when I tell people recipes…B12 much? So here it is if you can’t be arsed watching the vid: 2 cups nut milk of your choice (I choose hemp&brazil), 1-2 TBSP of smoothie mix, 1 TBSP lecithin, 3 cardamom pod – seeds, dash cinnamon, vanilla, dash nutmeg, pinch salt, 1-2 TBSP sweetner of choice. Blend. DONE!
I’m so chuffed to have this amazing array of magical tonic treats in my cupboard, ready to catapult my everyday nut milks in to full-on goddess ELIXIRS! I thoroughly recommend you check out Elwin’s website and listen to his videos about the magical properties of the herbs/mushrooms in his teas and mix for full understanding of the benefits you can gain.
LOVE IT!
LOVE IT! Love the vid too. I have one crucial question for you – how did you resist licking the spoon with the coocnut nectar on it?! that spoon would have gone straight in my mouth 😉 If I hadn’t just spent a small fortune on raw goodies from Miss Magic I’d be on Elwin’s website in a flash. x
Thanks for posting this love. Can’t wait to get my smoothie blend from Elwin. This is my brekkie from now on – come on out, inner goddess 🙂
Ha ha Ros, it was very tempting but I try to compose myself on camera 🙂
Yeah I went halfers with Gail on the bag to save some pennies x
Cheryl you already are a goddess! It’s a yummy blend, defo make the choc as soon as you can too 🙂 x
Great video! I’ve been meaning to try making my own nutmilks, but thought they’d cost a lot of money for the nuts. Judging from the amount you used, it shouldn’t be too bad!
Also, DH keeps trying to get me to take lecithin, as he does, off the spoon, but it makes me grue. This looks like a good way to take it and cheaper than capsules, I think.
I’d love to try the smoothie mix, but £40’s a bit steep at the moment (seeing a theme here? 🙂 ) I do add some of the ingredients individually though, when I make my smoothies…
Anyway, I’m feeling all inspired now! 🙂
That’s great Penny, yeah hemp seeds are pretty cheap as are brazil nuts and they last a long time. You can just use a couple of TBSP to 1 litre and get loads of nice milk!
Agreed, I could only take lecithin in smoothies and milks, it’s nice and creamy when combined with yummy things.
Yes £40 is for 1kg which should last you a good few months but I went halfers to see how I got on first 🙂
Glad you’re feeling inspired xx
