This is the 21st century baby, we don’t eat our greeeeens, we DRINK them! What is a green smoothie? Surprisingly enough it’s a smoothie that’s green. The reason it’s green is cos we’ve taken your typical, average joe punter on the street fruit smoothie and added some leafy greens to it. Ta daaaah! Green Smoothie Amazingness – simples!
So why the green smoothie? Well, apart from the fact that one of these babies a day will literally catapult your energy, health, vitality, state of mind, sexiness and all round GLOW in to the stratosphere, they actually do taste good! I know they look like pond scum, worse than pond scum even, but do you really think so many peeps would drink them if they tasted nasty? Looks can be deceiving you know? 🙂
Apart from anything else, it’s not always easy to chow down on bags of salad every single day! With one of these hunks you can rest assured that you’ve got all your green goodness smoothified and waiting to be easily digested in your lovely tum with minimal effort and time. Why not transform your health by trying one out for breakfast?
All you need to do is start off with a nice ratio of fruit to greens 2:1 or 3:1 or 5:1 if you’re petrified of the colour! Bananas and frozen berries are very good as are mangoes and pineapples. Then, add some greens and a bit of water and you’re good to go. Start off with a light green like spinach or lettuce until you get over yourself about the colour 🙂 Trust me, all you can taste is the fruit! Cucumber and celery are good to add because they have good water content and are relatively flavour neutral. Don’t be a boring git though, mix your ingredients up every day for variety, taste, nutrition and general sexiness! Instead of water you could try fruit juice or nut milk for a creamier texture!
I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that a green smoothie a day can change your life. When I first got in to them I was drinking up to 3 or 4 a day! They are like rocket fuel for your body and it will sing and do a little dance when you treat it to a dark green mean machine beverage! The possibilities are endless in terms of the ingredients and taste – as limitless as your own imagination although you might not want to go too overboard if you’re just starting out! Rod had his first green smoothie a few months ago now and trust me when I tell you if he can drink them, ANYBODY can 🙂
Anyway so Rod and I made a green smoothie vid. Rod makes the best green smoothies just by kinda freestylin’ with whatever’s in the fridge or fruit bowl. Check him out:
