Hello! Been a bit hectic this week. We had the Glasgow raw food potluck on Wednesday at Grassroots. I really, really, love these potlucks! Not only amazing food but gorgeous chat too AND the best raw choc cake I’ve ever tasted, made by the wonderful Sarah. Seriously, this cake is more addictive than crack! I took a wedge home in my doggy bag and have been enjoying some for breakfast, er lunch and dinner 🙂 Hoping to get my chocolate covered hands on the recipe this week so I can share with you all… This was some I had with hemp cream and raspberries mmmmm 🙂
What else have I been up to? Oh yes, I’ve turned in to an olive dealer! I ordered a 5kg bucket of a particular type of olive from Italy called Castelvetrano which you can’t get in Scotland for love nor money. In fact, they’re a bit like gold dust everywhere but I managed to find a place that will supply to me and believe me when I say these ARE the best olives you’ll ever taste! They melt in your mouth and taste really smooth and creamy. Just amazing. So yeah I managed to find a few olive lovers more than happy to try them out and so far the feedback has been awesome! Going to have to get me some more very soon. If you want some, let me know!
Went on a wild food walk last night in the West end ran by herbalist Bill Cleeve. I learned so much and had a good laugh with the other weegie raw food friends. There are about four billion plants on this one road we went on, you just wouldn’t believe how much food and medicine is growing all around you! Awesome! We ate leaves off a tree I didn’t know you could eat. I have it written down somewhere. Will need to go over my notes again. Oh and learned loads of things you can’t eat or you turn in to a dead person! Good to know…
I learned loads I didn’t know about dandelions, thistles, plantain (banana – oh yes), daisies, chickweed, and soooo many other plants. I really think wild foods are the best foods on the planet. Definitely going to up my intake and get into it a bit more. I picked some wild raspberries the other night while out on my bike. They are so beautiful picked straight from the bush and quite a world away from the ones you buy in the shops. Can’t wait for the blackberries to flourish soon! There are bizillions of bushes nearby.
So yeah, busy week.
I made a yummy breakfast porridge today. I soaked 1 cup buckwheat for about 10 hours in water then left it to sprout overnight. I chucked it in the food processor with 1 tbsp coconut palm sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon with a tiny bit of water and processed till smooth. Topped with strawbs and blueberries. Lovely and filling 🙂
Er, not much else just now. Will blog over the weekend. Need to fill you in on Miss Eco Glam’s new eco shop!
Have a smashing time!
