Talkin’ raw chocolate with the raw chocolate company

By Emma Leave a Comment Jan 19 0

1. tell us about how you got in to making your own chocolate.

A long time ago when my son was young I got interested in nutrition.  I started playing around with some recipes, mincing up seeds and dried fruit to make fruit balls for school lunches.  Then I started coating them in chocolate and pretty soon the whole school was eating them!« Continue »

Why a 100% raw diet is not right for me

By Emma Leave a Comment Aug 23 0

This is an awesome guest blog by Ros Milligan of Raw n’ Rosie.  Do you want your say?  Send me an email at emma@rawfoodscotland.co.uk

When I first found out about raw food…

I thought the whole idea was nuts (no pun intended), but I quickly came to realise that it made a lot of sense to eat a greater proportion of my diet as fresh, raw, unadulterated food.  Who wants to shove that crazy man-made rubbish into our beautiful bodies?

I eat a proportion of raw food now that feels right for me, which is usually about 70%, sometimes more, sometimes less, but I don’t beat myself up about it.  I tend to feel a bit tired and yuk if I eat too much cooked food (i.e more than 50% of my daily diet) and not enough fresh stuff, but given that the large proportion of my diet is what I deem to be ‘good stuff’, I can get away with it!  It makes it a lot easier when out and about, with family, eating out and visiting friends.

Yoga & Raw Food – part 1

By Emma Leave a Comment Aug 8 2

This is a guest 2 part post by Kat Shaw.  Kat is the most amazing woman in the universe.  True.  She is the Edinburgh Raw Food Group organiser at www.meetup.com/Edinburgh-Raw-Foodies and has her own website which includes details of her forthcoming yoga & raw food retreat in Costa Rica www.kat-yoga.com/retreats

There are many different yoga styles, Hatha, Ashtanga, Viniyoga, Bikram, Jnana, Raja, Iyengar, Prana Flow, Vinyasa flow and more exploring physical postures with a similar philosophical spiritual approach; and each person who practises yoga will have a different journey in their yoga sadhana.  If you’ve never tried yoga, a class is the best and finding a yoga teacher you connect with who’s willing to share their journey with you.« Continue »

Interview & Guest Recipe ~ Raw Food Chef Auður Inga Konráðsdóttir

By Emma Leave a Comment Jul 30 0

This is my lovely friend Auður that I met in Iceland.  She is probably the most amazing Icelandic person you’ll ever meet.  I’ve still not learned how to properly pronounce her first name but I’m having the most fun EVER trying. Auður is no stranger to the raw scene in the UK having worked at Aloka in Brighton and Inspiral in London.  She’s also catered at David Wolfe’s events in London!

Not only has she « Continue »

chitter chatter with Mike Nash

By Emma Leave a Comment Feb 19 1

Hey everyone!  It’s been a pretty manic week for me this week, what about you?  I of course blame the moon in all her glory when things go a little awry – does that rhyme?  Anyway…never have chocolate for breakfast before you blog!  Should I start again?

Today I’ve got a lovely little blog from the even lovelier Mike Nash.  For those of you who don’t know, Mike Nash is author of Aggressive Health and runs the Aggressive Health website which has a very spiffing shop full of aggressively healthy health products (where I bought my earthing technology).  Although Mike looks a little bit like Peter Andre,« Continue »

By Emma Leave a Comment Jan 19 0

Today the lovely and amazing (and a bit handsome) Russell James (aka The Raw Chef) delights us all with his interview on the 11 questions I ask raw foodies.  I first met Russell (hailed as the UK’s leading raw chef by none other than The Times) at a Karen Knowler event back in 2009, where he was providing us all with rather yummy food.  Check out his youtube videos too for some demos of great recipes which are also readily available on his own blog. « Continue »
