bringing sexy back

By Emma Mar 21 6

Yesterday, while at the lovely tea shop with the lovely raw ladies, we were discussing raw food and sexiness.  I’ve touched on this briefly before in a previous blog but I thought I’d make this a full-blown sexy blog.

First of all I should clarify what I mean.  I guess when it comes to raw food and sexiness I mean two things:

1.  What raw food can do for your body and mind = sexy

2. The perception about what raw food is = unsexy

For me (and probably a lot of raw foodies) it’s common sense to look at a ripe juicy papaya, pineapple or mango or a lush green salad with beautiful ripe tomatoes and crisp yellow peppers or an orgasmic raw chocolate pudding with chopped strawberries and think SEXY.   Afterall, a fruit is the tree’s way of reproducing so maybe we’re hard-wired to see fruits as sexy and attractive, particularly as we’re part of the process!

Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t quite get the same vibe off a microwaved spud, a quorn scotch egg or an oven ready lasagna…  Actually, maybe you do?  Seek help! 🙂  Seriously though, not only are the colours so vivid, bright and beautiful, the textures are smooth and sensuous and well, sexy.  Even the shape of some fruits and veggies can lead your mind to the gutter!  Don’t get me started on licking the vitamix plunger!  And then of course there’s the Doctrine of Signatures – that the food we eat resembles the parts of the body it helps.

Full of seeds and hangs in twos….hmm?

Anyway where was I?  Oh yes, what raw food can do to sexify you.

Lauren Michelle Kinsey (the health exhibitionist) recently interviewed raw women across the world on what eating raw had done for their body and mind and how eating a high raw diet can beautify – such an amazing read!  I’ve taken some of the photos from the interviews from her blog but you can access the interviews here.

So what happens when you eat more of these sexy, vital, mineral-rich, vitamin-rich, water-rich foods?  Well, you become sexy!  This is a scientific fact proven by the sexy ladies you see below.  These women are so sexy I might even become a lesbian even though I don’t think they are lesbians…I could have a sex change then.  Where am I going with this? Just look!!

Which leads me very nicely in to the whole percepion of raw food and how it might be viewed as boring or unsexy.  I guess there are stereotypes around vegetarians and vegans that it’s all quorn this and sandals and lentils that with a bit of soya on your brown cardigan thrown in for good measure.   That’s where raw food is different!  It’s not always a choice to eat this way through moral standpoint although obviously that plays a huge part and indeed raw can be a natural progression for a lot of vegans and/or vegetarians.  A lot of the time though it stems from a natural progression of just wanting to feel AMAZING and eat healthily or because of an illness or intolerance or because it just makes common sense.  Because of these different portals in to raw it results in such a diverse range of people choosing to eat this way.  I can honestly say that all the raw people I know are from very different ages, backgrounds and interests and that’s what makes it even more special.  It’s not a group of hippies all walking around hugging trees (ok I have hugged a few trees in my time and don’t ask me about the time I had too much Muira Puama), it’s ‘normal’ people who just happen to like eating a lot of raw food.  It’s so funny to me that’s it’s viewed as unnatural or weird.  So ironic!  It’s perfectly natural to eat natural food…or have I gone mad?

Anyway so back to the sex.  Eating this way can bring benefits to the bedroom of course it can.  When you don’t have to gouch out for hours digesting your food, your body is ready to move, it’s ready for action haha!  You can’t use the excuse of a headache because (unless you’re going through minor detox) it’s unlikely you’ll have one!  I haven’t had a headache since I went raw.  I haven’t taken 1 pain killer since 2007.  I think that’s pretty special.  In fact, I haven’t taken any medication at all in all that time.  Haven’t needed to.  Don’t get me wrong I’ve caught colds here and there but they’re gone sometimes in a day!  I’m going off on a tangent again…

So yes, more energy for the bedroom and more self confidence.  There’s nothing like shedding a few pounds (or stone) plus getting rid of cellulite and gaining a nice flat tummy to get you wanting to strip off!  Because you look better you feel better.  Because you feel better about yourself that shines through.  I think that’s why ‘they’ say so many raw people have a glow about them!  It’s a natural and sustainable high.  You eat better so your mood improves too!  It’s a win-win-win-win-win scenario!  You also have the energy to put on your trainers and go for that run or down the gym meaning an even better body!  A body that you want to share! 🙂

I’m so regretting sending the link to my blog to my parents now 🙂

Anyway.  I’ll probably touch on this again because I feel so strongly that it isn’t carrots, apples and boredom.  I want people to get out of the mindset that healthy eating and healthy living is boring and unsexy.  If anything it’s the opposite.  This kind of view is what stops some people from pursuing a healthier way of life for fear of missing out on something tasty.  If it was boring so many people wouldn’t be doing it.  I certainly wouldn’t.  I’m a hugely sensual eater – if it doesn’t look good, taste good and feel good it can sod off!  I think I’ve got my point across but really what I wanted to say is that eating this way, to me, is vitality and awakened beauty both physically and emotionally and it’s soooo damn SEXY!

trust me it's impossible to not do this

Here is my rebounding song of the day…aptly named for the subject of this blog 🙂 Used to love dancing to this in

nightclubs…that was quite some time ago now…

I love the way you have written about this, it is so true…raw food does make you feel so damn sexy… and I’d rather lick raw chocolate dribbled across someones chest than squirty cream for a can! Now there is a thought for the weekend…… 😉
