1. How long have you been in to raw foods?

I would say its about 2 years now

2. How did you discover raw foods?

I first heard about it 10 years ago and remembered thinking how nuts it was! I continued not caring about what I ate, and spent many years stuffing myself with all sorts of junk foods, McDonalds and KFC was a regular meal for me and I had no idea what was in it.  I assumed it wasnt good for me in a way but never realised just how bad long term, this food is for us. And, I had no idea there were seriously dangerous chemicals in this food. I had no idea what Aspartame was or what High Fructose Corn Syrup was!

Fast forward to me being in my mid twenties and I had dramatic weight gain, after being stick thin for years, now had loads of cellulite, a miserable, terribly unstable mind and felt very very tired and run down.

I started working for a vegetarian magazine in 2009 and came across many raw food people at various events. I saw how amazing they looked and thought, ”I want that!”  I noticed that out of the Vegetarians & Vegans, the Raw Foodies really seemed so healthy and not just healthy but had something very energetic and special about them.

I also started the raw diet due to being so unwell, with Chronic Fatigue and felt it was the right way of eating for me.

3. What were some of the first benefits you noticed?

I noticed it changed my mind, literally! I had less depression and was able to finally realise that my life was miserable because I was not able to think clearly which made me to be always depressed. I  soon had an ephiany that I could change my life by eating better foods that actually FED my brain rather than give it a chemical reaction that caused it to be unstable and depressed.

As the weeks went by, I just felt happier and happier and started to really harness the ‘law of attraction’ and really create the life that I did not even know was possible for me.

Eating Raw even gave me the inspiration for starting my blog!

4. Were there any drawbacks? If so, what and how did you handle?

The drawbacks for me was that I could not handle too many greens.  I was so ill, that my Hypothalamus was not really functioning well (hypothalamus controls the bodies homestasis systems) so it meant that I was unable to process too many greens, and they actually made me feel quite sick in the stomach.

Now after receiving treatment from a wonderful Doctor by the name of Dr Michael Kucera, (who also happens to treat the Russian Astronauts and is working on ‘Project Mars’) I am much better now and am able to process food a lot better.  I was that sick 1 year ago, that my health was that of a decrepit 80 year  old!

5. How did your family and friends react?

My family live in Australia so they have heard about me eating like this but said that it’s great I am doing this but it would be ‘too hard’ for them to eat this way. My mum is coming over to visit me this October and I plan on taking  her to SAF and the other London Raw Restaurants so that she can try them out. I will also introduce her to some green juices and smoothies and other raw food  meals.  I also want her to go and get some colonics to really get her a lot healthier before she goes back to Australia! I want to be a really good influence on her and inspire her to eat more raw foods.

Most of my friends are very cool about me being raw and many will ask me questions about it.  Most of my friends that I have chosen to have in my life, share the same views so its been quite easy. If I however, talk to someone at party or with other friends who don’t really know much about it and are a bit negative, I tend to say well it has worked for me and when you think about it, raw, unprocessed foods make more sense than overcooked processed foods doesn’t it? I ‘plant a seed’ in their mind so that they can think about it logically if they want to. If they don’t then I think, that is their choice and maybe they will see the light one day anyway.

6. How did you handle reactions? any tips?

Probably just don’t take it personally and let your own health speak for itself. If you glow with health and are your ideal weight, then that is enough proof isnt it! Some people are not ready to change their life a lot and are really quite attached to their way of eating food. I see many people like this, seriously overweight, who complain a lot about it but will not change how they eat. It’s quite sad as they dont realise that eating raw is more than just food, its a way of life and it really can make you have the life you never dreamed of.

7. What advice would you give people who are interested in raw foods on how to get started?

Just search the internet and youtube, buy some popular raw books and just gradually ease your way in to the diet. Going 100% for some works well but most people it doesn’t.

8. What is your number 1 raw tip?

Green Juice! Thats the best raw tip – I am realising this more and more, that to get the best benefit of eating raw you must have lots of green juices or green smoothies. You need the enzymes and nutrients in the greens to really supercharge your health and also to ‘clean’ the cells.

If too many greens make you sick, you may have my problem and if so then you will need some help with getting your hypothalamus to function better. (This is done with ‘Mitochondrial Supplements which help the cells to function better) The only Doctor I know who does this type of treatment is Dr Kucera so if you want his details, please contact me.

9. What is your favourite raw food and why?

Who can’t resist an amazing raw dessert say a chocolate brownie? Inspiral Lounge in Camden make the most incredible sticky chocolate gooey brownies made with prunes and raw caco and other yummy things. They are Heaven!

10. If you could be any raw food what would you be and why?

I think I would be a mango! Eating a juicy fresh mango always makes people feel so good! Gorgeous organic fruit always makes me marvel at the wonders of the world.  We really have paradise on earth, despite what people think!

11. How do you see the raw movement in five years time?

I think the raw movement is moving across planet Earth in a very rapid way! Its a diet thats going to take the world by storm. People these days are so sick and need help and the doctors are more often than not failing to really help them.  We now have this inner voice telling us that something is not right and taking our own health into our hands and craving to be back to nature.  The Raw diet really helps you to do this very quickly!
