philip & nonsense

By Emma Dec 2 4

Ok I’ve decided it’s entirely ridiculous to feel guilty for not blogging.  Apparently it’s quite a common condition if you can believe?  Oh my, new conditions to do with not living enough of a virtual life.  What HAS the world come to?  So from here on in I wholeheartedly embrace the facet of me that is ‘not blogging’ and perceive it as my goddess given right to not blog whenever I feel like it.

Anyway, as is usually the case with not blogging about things at the time they happen, I’m now relying on my more than dodgy memory and some random photos to catalogue the last few days.  Well I do remember a certain American raw food promoter by the name of Philip McCluskey strolling in to weegie town.

We went to Sarah’s house for a thanksgiving raw party.  I didn’t take any pictures cos I forgot my camera AGAIN.  I mean seriously?  I’m going to have to surgically attach that camera to me.  It was amazing.  A few of the raw weegie massive were there, Gail, Kelly, Declan and Andrew Gerson (former chef at Pure Food & Wine) and Sarah and Sarah’s friend Eva who has the best laugh in the world.  We tucked in to some amazing raw scran that Sarah had prepared including parsnip mash, cranberry sauce, nut burgers, salad and such. Awesome.  There was some Tofurkey there as in, get tofurkey haha.  It’s rancid, don’t try it.  Although Declan liked it…A LOT.  Bizarre.

The following day we arsed about Glasgow with Philip and took him to Primark to get socks.  As you do.

He took our photo too.  New socks make you take great photos, especially Primark ones.

We went for chai at Tchai-ovna.  Anyone that is interested how I keep warm in winter the answer is a lot of YOGI CHAI tea from Tchai-ovna.  In fact, yogi chai tea from Tchai-ovna is how I keep warm in the Spring, Summer and Autumn too.  It’s also how I keep  happy, alive, sane, excited, my life in check, my incredible sense of humour, my phenomenal intelligence.  It’s how I keep EVERYTHING cos it’s the best damn tea in the world.  I am the Yogi chai whore.  Please visit Tchai-ovna in the west end, it’s the best tea shop ever and you can buy it online.  And then send me some 🙂

Where was I?  Yes, we went for chai and then drove to Stirling to go to Stirling castle.  Which was just shutting, hilariously.  So we went to the pub instead and talked a lot of er, sex, past lives, pushing buttons, er, sex, gardening, singing, looking in to eyes and some such other nonsense.  It really was a magical day.  After dropping a fish supper to the husband we headed in to town for food.

The following day was Philip’s talk and the raw food gourmet dinner prepared by Andrew.  Unfortunately for me I live in the arse end of nowhere and was snowed in so couldn’t make it.  Apparently it was a great talk and a beautiful meal.  I’m gutted I missed it but for everything a reason eh?  Here’s a pic of some of the food…

So that was Philip.

Here’s some stuff I’ve made over the last few days…

Amazing breakfast SUPERFOOOOOOOOOOOOODED up to the max.  Grapefruit, blueberries, Goji berries, bee pollen and chia seeds.  I love crowbarring superfoods in to every meal I can…ok maybe I need a life eh?  But this was the sexiest breakfast ever!

The husband went MENTAL for these.  SOOOOOO good. er, what did I put in? Maca, Mesquite, almond butter, tahini, honey, bit o’ choc powder and processed until sticky then made in to balls.  I will be making these again A LOT.  Just as soon as the snow buggers off and I can go get some supplies!

This pudding was based on a Kate Magic recipe which you can download for free on her Raw Living site.  Basically soaked chia with lucuma, almond butter (i was out of tahini), purple corn, suma and blueberries all mixed in together.  Gorgeous and tasted kinda like jam but in a good way.

I soaked some buckwheat for a day or so till they got lil tails

Then processed with cacao powder, vanilla and sweetner and dehydrated

to make chocolate crispies.  still working on this recipe, wasn’t as good as the ones at One Lucky Duck which is what I was trying to emulate…but god loves a trier…

Anyway I’m shutting up now otherwise I might accidentally win world record for longest blog post ever.

Have fun
