As I proferred (ooh check me) only a couple of days ago here, I’m now at the unprecedented 1391 days raw. Oh yeah baby! So given this momentous and stupendous number I thought I’d share with you some of the wisdom I have gained in this time.
There is no right way to do raw – like anything in life you have to find what works for you. That might even include a healthy amount of cooked food *shock and gasp and a smidgen of horror
There is no right way to go raw – if you end up swinging back and forth from cooked to raw to cooked to raw it could be that this is your way of going about it. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Don’t sweat it darling. Don’t make a problem out of stuff eh? Just keep doing what you’re doing and if you relax and accept chances are you’ll come on leaps and bounds. Don’t ask me how that works, I’m not a magician. Try it.
There is no raw…just kidding! Maybe there isn’t…could be a collective hallucination? I haven’t had coffee I swear 🙂
Don’t try to go raw with your mind – it’s your body you’re looking to come round. It might not even agree with you. See point 1. If that’s the case don’t push it. The last person you want to fall out with is your body. Trust me!
Not all raw food is healthy. Yep, if you’re gonna sit and eat lots of dehydrated and packaged raw foodstuffs, raw cakes and chocolate all day and think yeah baby I’m raw and healthy, think again. Yes, these are better alternatives to sugar and shite-laden cakes and treats but they do not constitute a healthy diet…more’s the pity really…
Digestion is key. There are some foods that’s I’ve discovered I just can’t do a lot of in their raw state. Things like broccoli and lots of nuts and seeds seem to clog up my digestion. A healthy digestion is what we are aiming for. No point shovelling tonnes of good stuff in there if you can’t actually digest it.
Raw community is pivotal to success and also the best fun ever. Get out and meet other people in to raw. You might meet some crazies but actually they can turn out to be the best of the bunch! Build a community, eat, have fun and don’t forget the banter! Click here for info on meetups across Scotland.
Raw food is just one element of the bigger picture. It won’t solve ALL your problems. It’s not the answer to everything in the universe. Raw food will not make you great at playing piano. It will not make your husband look like Michael Hutchenc. I’m basically saying don’t look at it as a panacea, more as a supportive tool for enhancing certain areas of your life.
Be accepting of others – what they eat, what they wear, what music they listen to (even if it is Britney Spears) but mostly importantly what they eat. God there’s more to life than food. Truly there is. Connect with people even if they spitroast pigs for a living. Don’t make your belief system about what people should eat more important than actual people. Wars are started over such nonsense.
Coconut Om Bars are the best thing ever invented – one day I will meet the man that created it and shake his hand…and see if he has any in his pocket I can steal 🙂
So there you have it. Feel free to let me know any wise words you have to share! I wanna hear them! Or see them.
And if you like this then sell it to all your friends 🙂
Are you ready to DANCE god damn it?
