See the whole science thing behind raw food? You know, the enzyme theory about enzymes being destroyed over a certain temperature, the whole cooked food leading to the release of white blood cells in the body bla bla bla boring. I don’t care about it. Truly I don’t.
The truth is I’ve never really dug science. Me and science just don’t mix. Especially Physics. Oh god, don’t get me started on how much I hated Standard Grade Physics. One time I spent the entire class pulling out my split ends. THAT is how much I hated that subject.
Don’t get me wrong, I quite like the sexy men in white coats fiddling with their Bunsen burners or whatever the shit it is they do, but sciencey science, with all mad electrons and hypotheses and all that shit? Big.giant.fat.NO.
Apart from the fact that science just isn’t my thing, I’ve come to realise that the science behind raw food just doesn’t really matter to me.
What matters is the magic!
I love the fact I can’t explain the power of raw food.
I love the feeling that can’t be explained. The high. The buzz. The feeling good. Feeling alive. Feeling vital.
I love it’s inexplicableness. Nobody can explain magic, right? It just is.
I don’t need to understand how it works.
I don’t need to understand why it works.
HOW and WHY are for people too busy trying to understand their life rather than just live it.
I just know that it works for me. Raw food makes me feel fucking fantastic and that’s pretty much all there is to it.
It’s like Santa (I know, bear with me). When kids are told that Santa doesn’t exist a bit of magic dies. The mystery. The excitement. God, we’re cruel to kids. And that’s kinda like science, when we understand completely how something works it spoils it a bit. Some of the magic and mystery is lost.
Trying to understand raw food on these terms is like telling kids that Santa doesn’t exist.
And what’s more, the whole science behind raw food could actually be the biggest crock of shit. It might all be made up! None of us can say hand on heart that we know this enzyme theory and all the other bullshit is actually true.
But who gives a shit anyway?
We don’t need science. We just need to look at nature and see the truth in it.
So I’m not going to explain it anymore. I’m not going to be all sciencey. But I might be persuaded in to wearing a white coat. Just don’t give me a Bunsen burner…
