Yes green smoothies AGAIN. Seriously, forget drugs, the high you’ll get off of one of these bad boys is unreal. I really don’t know the science behind it. But I hate the whole science thing anyway so let’s forget that. Maybe it’s intense alkalisation? Maybe it’s the drugs in the greens? I huvnae a clue, all I can tell you is these will make you want to party hard and PLUG YOU IN TO THE MAINS SUPPLY! There is literally nothing more I can say to explain how good drinking greens will make you feel. Just do it do it do it!
This recipe had me jumping round the living room like an utter nutter to the Prodigy after cleaning the house top to toe and being at the gym. Energy anyone? LOVE IT
1/2 punnet blueberries
4 sticks celery
2 handfuls spinach, watercress and rocket
1 heaped TBSP hemp protein powder (opt)
2 TBSP ground flaxseed (opt)
2 TBSP spirulina
1 TBSP Lecigran – see below (opt)
2 TBSP soaked chia seeds (opt)
1 TSP vanilla powder
BLEND avec water. Makes one gigantic big gooey smoothie. So thick you will need a spoon for fear of the biggest green moustache ever if you try and drink it. In fact, moustache and beard. Actually, general all over facial greenness. Might be a good look actually…rocking a facial at the same time as having breakko? Moving on. Gave a bit to the husband who stated “it tastes like a greenhouse” then upped it to “it’s not awful” then “yeah it’s alright” bless him 🙂
I enjoyed this while reading my pal Declan’s new blog. It’s called Raw Student Scotland and you can read about his green smoothie escapades here. Interview with him coming up very soon. He’s absolutely bloody bonkers and I completely love him to bits 🙂
So yeah Lecithin – what the chuff is that then? Lecigran is biologically a highly active lecithin complex, rich in phosphatidyl choline, which plays an important part in the break down of fat in the liver and the emulsification of fat in food. It’s a good thing to eat on a raw food diet if you consume a lot of nuts/seeds or other high fat foods. The bonus of it though is if you add it to recipes it creates a rich creamy taste so it’s bloody ace for smoothies and nut milks.
Last night’s potluck for the Glasgow Raw foood group was absolutely AMAZING. We had a proper cake fest with 3 cakes on the go and chocs. Errr, didn’t take photos. I’m going to buy a flip today so I can be a bit more with it on the capturing stuff side of things. Kind of overdid it a bit on the cacao tho and ended up awake most of the night talking nonsense to myself but at least with a cacao fuelled awake-fest you’re happy at the same time as wanting to be asleep 🙂
Anyway, off to jump around some more. Have the most excitement possible. Remember
Your worst day is someone else’s dream come true.
LOVE YOUR LIFE 🙂
