Woo woo it’s Monday. I’m becoming rather pish at blogging over the weekend. Think I’ll give myself weekends off as I’m usually running around mental. I’ve had the best weekend ever! I always say that. But that’s because each day does tend to be pretty amazing in the land of Emma. I caught up with some amazing old friends and went roller booting! Best fun in the whole universe. Forgot how much it hurts your bum though.
I went in to the post office on Friday and saw a leaflet for a forthcoming 10k race. I decided this was a sign from the universe having had a conversation with my friend only a day earlier about not really having a fitness goal to work towards. Anyway so I signed up. For some reason I thought it was in 8 weeks but it turns out it’s in 4 weeks! Triple yikes! I started training today and did a 5k run. I was dead chuffed with myself having not run for about 5 months, hoping I don’t feel it too badly tomorrow. I tell you I’m bloody determined to do this race – first one ever. Not expecting to come first or anything but as long as I’m not last I’ll be over the moon.
I figured something out though, when I ran last year it used to always be first thing and on an empty stomach but having finally understood that I need some energy to fuel my body today was the first time I ran having had some breakkie! I blended a whole honeydew melon and had that about a half hour before heading out. Blended melon is so yummy and digests so quickly and easily. It defo gave me way more energy to keep going.
When I came back I made a mega protein smoothie for recovery. 4 nanas, 1/2 punnet blueberries, 4 tablespoons hulled hemp seeds, 1 teaspoon crystal manna, 5 strawberries. it went a kind of cementy colour
I went up to the well today to get my supplies of spring water. It’s so lovely up there. I do need to find somewhere a bit closer to home though. Got about 35 litres so that should do me a while 🙂
Got back in and had another smoothie – 3 bananas, 1 mango, 1 medjool date
then ANOTHER smoothie – must be needing the cals today after my run – 1 banana, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon cacao powder. So important to make sure you have enough calories when exercising.
I made a bloody nice soup today – it was a bit of an odd combo but worked quite well. I might replace the coconut with avo next time. This is Janice: 2 cobs sweetcorn, 1/8th red chilli, juice of 1 lime, small handful coriander, 50g creamed coconut (not raw), 1/2 medjool date, pinch salt – blend top with coriander sprigs
Still felt peckish after that so decided to make some broccoli bonkers for a nori (untoasted) wrap. I adore nori wraps with preserved lemons in – something about the zing and the nori works so well together. I also added dulse cos I’m a dulse whore as well as cucumber and some greens. mmmmmm stuffed now!
So yeah, lots of yumbo food. Not much else to report, my head’s a bit minced. Off down to Pontefract tomorrow for a few days with work so lots of food packages to make up before my trip. woo and hoo
No rebounding today (tsk tsk) but here’s a nice song that brings back proper lovely memories even though liam gallagher is a total arse
