There’s a certain amount of pressure that accompanies a raw chocolate review. Ok, that’s a lie, it’s probably the best job in the world! Not that it is my job…cor, I wish! But I think it’s part of my remit as Raw Food Blogger and Reviewer Extraordinaire (oh, I like that little title right there) to give you the low down on raw food products hitting the market so that you know what’s worth your pennies!« Continue »

Ooh, I’m almost like an agony aunt aren’t I? Ask Emma. A bit like Just Joan from the Daily Record except I don’t look like someone has just shat in my handbag! Poor Joan. She is lovely. Moving on. I got a lovely email from a lady asking how to deal with emotional detox that can arise when you start eating more raw food.
This lightening the load of your physical body by eating a high raw food diet can « Continue »

Ok that’s the short answer. Here’s a little bit more babble. Just a tiny little bit mind you cos I know we all have the attention span of a dead goldfish these days.
There are people who will advocate a 100% raw foods diet. These people tend to be hardcore militant all or nothing types and my advice is to« Continue »
I said I’d do a sensible post after yesterday‘s mental one didn’t I? God I’m a woman of my word! So it seems from the genius that is Google that there’s quite literally millions of people (ok, at least 100) looking for information on health food shops in Glasgow. And I figure, if someone’s gonna help you out it may as well be me. Plus I get a kick out of helping people…

Aren’t keywords on Google Analytics great? Keywords, for those of you who don’t know, are the words that people type in to Google that ultimately leads them to your blog. I pretend of course I have the first clue about Google Analytics. The truth is I only go on to see the mad things people type in to get to my blog. That, and to see where you all live! I know there are forty billion things Google Analytics can do to help boost my blog profile but to be honest I can’t be properly arsed learning about it. Super « Continue »
You know I so can’t be arsed typing right now so I’m going to paint this blog picture with photos and you can figure it out for yourself. Sounds fair right?

Ahoy! How are you beautiful people? I am bloody exquisite, which is surprising because I thought I’d be a jibbering wreck by now. The reason being I had the last ever Coconut Om Bar to be found in Iceland last night. My local health food shop is now officially out of stock of my favourite ever EVER raw chocolate bar! Woe IS me! Dis-as-te-r!
I’m coping rather well I think all things considered. Pretty much because there is still raw chocolate to be had in this beautiful city so all is not lost. Which brings me to this little beut of a bar which I’m reviewing for your pleasure. Ok so it’s definitely NOTHING to do with your pleasure at all and all to do with « Continue »
This is a kinda follow up to my earlier blog post on coconut chia pud. Inspired by my friend Lucy I came up with this recipe and it’s so utterly sublime (hence the name) that I thought I’d share it with you. The ‘so shoot me’ bit comes in to the equation cos the recipe is not 100% raw. Shock horror, what has become of me and my raw food blog? I’m positively heathen today!
The truth is that 1, I don’t care and 2, it’s still superbly healthy so sod it. It tastes like a really rich chocolate mousse. I literally couldn’t get enough of it…until I ran out of chia seeds. I’m out of chia seeds! Oh the pain of it all.
For this recipe the cooked element (gasp) is a carton of coconut milk. See if you can’t choose a really good quality coconut milk that is not mostly water or packed with preservatives and such. I was shocked when I looked at the Biona brand to see that it was something like 50 or 60% coconut and the rest water. I ended up getting a much cheaper brand out of Bonus supermarket that was 80% coconut. So yeah, get as good quality as you can.
Sublime So Shoot Me Chocolate Chia Mousse of Amazingness
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup water
1 tbsp sweetener (I use xylitol – it’s the best)
1 tbsp cacao powder
Blend the above and stir in 2-3 tbsp of chia seeds. Just check it after a couple of hours. If it’s still too watery then stir in more chia. This pudding is meant to be THICK!
Leave to chill in the fridge. If you were feeling particularly saucy you could stir in cacao nibs. That’s what I’d do…if I had any 🙂
Warning: I have consumed three coffees before writing this post. I just wanted to write something not food related (it’s allowed right?) to say that today I actively encourage you to break your own rules. What do I mean by that? Good question. I mean that for the past week I’ve been seriously going against my own grain, all the things I’ve told myself I ‘should’ be doing, I’ve deliberately told myself the opposite.
For example,« Continue »
